Hawkesbury Valley-based boutique operation Tyreel Stud bid to $330,000 in the recent fortnightly gavelhouse.com mixed bloodstock auction for Gr.1 New Zealand 1,000 Guineas (1600m) runner-up Miss Tycoon Rose (Written Tycoon).

Acting as agent, Damon Gabbedy of Belmont Bloodstock struck the final blow for the Written Tycoon mare after spirited bidding ensued from both sides of the Tasman.

“She’s a magnificent type who has the racing talent and pedigree to boot, she’s a great outcross opportunity and she’ll get every chance going to a proven stallion early in her stud career,” said Gabbedy who secured her for Tyreel owners Linda and Laurence Monds.

“Tyreel is a very successful boutique operation, having sold the likes of Behemoth, Montefelia, Classique Legend and Rocket Spade to name a few of their Group One graduates in the last seven years and they have had plenty of success with other Written Tycoon mares including Written Dash who was bought for $410,000 in 2016 and her progeny have realised up to $1.7 million since.”

A winner of four from the Pitman stable for Jim Bruford’s Pearl Series Syndicate, Miss Tycoon Rose ran her last race in January, in which she was second in the Listed Timaru Stakes.

“We are thrilled with the result and grateful to Sarah Devcich at Henley Park for preparing her for sale so brilliantly and Angelique Bridson for showing what a lovely type she is with her photos and video footage.”

Entries for the next gavelhouse.com fortnightly auction are due online by 10pm on Monday 6 June.
