New Zealand-bred three-year-old Dream Winner (NZ) (Exosphere) maintained his perfect record when recording a comfortable victory in the Class Three Riding High Together Handicap (1000m) at Sha Tin on Saturday.

The Frankie Lor trained son of Exosphere made it three wins from three starts, lumping a big weight under Vincent Ho.

Sent off the $1.20 favourite, Dream Winner settled just off a strong speed set by Super Axiom and Cheval Valiant before coasting to a two-length victory.

“He’s a nice horse. I will put him away for next season – he’s still young and still improving,” Lor said of the hulking gelding, who successfully carried 132lb.

Winning jockey Ho, who rode a treble on the day, said it was more of a challenge with the impost on Saturday.

“It was a bit tougher with this weight and I’m glad this is his last run and that he will have a break now because he’s still young and the weight penalty is not ideal for him,” he said.

“I’m glad he can recover now and be more mature next season. He’s still raw. Of course, he’s a nice horse.”

A $26,000 Karaka purchase from the 2021 Karaka Book 2 Yearling draft of Monovale Farm, by Stephen and Jo Gudsell, Dream Winner won a trial at Woodville for JJ Rayner before being purchased by Hong Kong interests.

The gelding is out of a Brilliance half-sister to multiple Group One winning sprinter Start Wondering.
