Haunui Farm shuttle stallion Ribchester sired a double in the UK on Friday to provide him with his eighth and ninth winners respectively.
First to strike was the Karl Burke-trained Snooze n You Lose, who impressed on her second start at Nottingham. Bred by the Bryce family’s Laundry Cottage Stud Farm and out of the Noverre mare Wake Up Call, she was always traveling comfortably and was not extended to win by a length.
Just over an hour later at Wolverhampton, Oh Great registered his first win in a handicap run over an extended mile. Trained by Roger Varian and bred by Kildaragh Stud, the victory was not without incident, and after suffering interference in the run, was awarded the race in the Stewards Room.
Ribchester has now sired nine winners from his first crop in Europe, including recent Deauville debutant filly Shaikha, who impressed when winning easily in a very quick time.
After standing his first two shuttle seasons at Darley in Australia, Ribchester covered 78 mares in his first season at Haunui Farm last season.
A son of Iffraaj, who worked so well in New Zealand, Ribchester will stand his fourth season at Haunui Farm this year for a fee of $15,000+GST.
