The week at Royal Ascot certainly got the heart-rate up for Verry Elleegant’s (NZ) (Zed) owners as the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup champion continues to impress in early training ahead of her European debut in late August.
Managing part-owner Ozzie Kheir said that watching Nature Strip win the King’s Stand Stakes for Australia at Royal Ascot was something special and was something that he hoped his grand mare could emulate in her upcoming campaign.
“It certainly got the juices going and really, we are all very excited at what she might be able to do over there,” Kheir said.
“It’s still in the early stages (of her training) but she is enjoying her work and her trainer reports that she is very bright and well.”
Verry Elleegant has been transferred to the Chantilly yards of Francis-Henri Graffard for her European campaign that could include a run in one of the world’s biggest races the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on October 3.
