Well-performed relatives Sinarahma (NZ) (Darci Brahma) and Our Hail Mary (NZ) (Ocean Park) have been fine servants of Allan Sharrock’s operation and will chase further staying honours at both North Island venues on Saturday.
The former will head to Arawa Park to contest the Gr.3 Campbell Infrastructure Rotorua Cup (2200m) while Our Hail Mary will stay closer to home to tackle the Landmark Homes Handicap (2100m) at Hawera.
“The way Sinarahma has been finishing her races off, she will be hard to hold out at 2200m and her mother won at two miles, so it looks a suitable race,” Sharrock said.
Sinarahma won the Gr.3 Cuddle Stakes (1600m) three runs back before she was a close second in the Gr.3 Manawatu Breeders’ Stakes (2000m). At her most recent outing, she finished stoutly for third in the Gr.2 Travis Stakes (2000m).
By Darci Brahma, the seven-year-old is a daughter of Shez Sinsational (NZ) (Ekraar) who was prepared by Sharrock to win three times at Group One level in the Auckland Cup (3200m), Zabeel Classic (2000m) and Spring Classic (2000m) during her decorated career.
Sinarahma hasn’t helped her cause in the past by missing the start, but has since curbed that unfortunate habit.
“That’s all behind her now and we treated her back again this morning so that’s all top notch as well,” Sharrock said.
“This will more than likely be her last run. She’s been a terrific mare and it’s a fantastic family that will keep kicking on.”
The Cuddle Stakes success aside, Sinarahma has also landed two editions of the Listed Wairarapa Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes (1600m) and finished runner-up in the Gr.1 Thorndon Mile (1600m).
Her half-sister House Of Cartier (Alamosa), trained by Peter Didham, won the Gr.3 Metric Mile (1600m) and was third in the Gr.1 Schweppes Oaks (2000m).
Sinarahma’s stablemate Our Hail Mary is out of a sister to Shez Sinsational and has successes in the Gr.3 Trentham Stakes (2100m) and Gr.3 Marton Cup (2200m) to her credit.
“I didn’t think Our Hail Mary was going quite as well as Sinarahma so I thought I would split them this weekend and she was pretty good last time out,” Sharrock said.
Our Hail Mary took up the uncustomary role of pacemaker when fifth two runs back Te Rapa and then fought on gamely off a handy sit when third at Wanganui.
Justaskme (NZ) (No Excuse Needed) will also be in action at Hawera when he makes the second appearance of his preparation in the Seaton Park Handicap (1400m). He was unplaced when resuming at Wanganui where he didn’t recover from a tardy beginning.
“He’s heading toward the Ag Training WFA Stakes (Listed, 1600m) and will more than likely miss the Rangitikei Gold Cup (Listed, 1600m) on Saturday week, I’ve got Tavattack for that,” Sharrock said.
“If I felt Justaskme needed another run he could back up, but I reckon the Ag Challenge with a Rating of 100 is where he’s going to be best placed. They are hard to place when they get to that point.
“After Wanganui, there probably isn’t much left here for him. We could flick him to Australia while the tracks are wet there and try and get a dollar.”
