Rich Hill Stud’s shuttle stallion Satono Aladdin sired his first winner with two-year-old colt Omiwatari winning over 1100m at Monbetsu in Japan on Friday.

A son of phenomenal Japanese stallion Deep Impact, Satono Aladdin was a top-flight racehorse who won eight races including the Gr.1 Yasuda Kinen (1600m) in a slick time of 1:31.5.

Shuttling from Japan’s world-famous Shadai Stallion Station, Satono Aladdin served 91 mares at Rich Hill Stud in 2018 and 58 in 2019 before COVID-19 restrictions prevented his return in 2020.

His first New Zealand crop went under the hammer at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale earlier this year where they sold up to $360,000, and he finished second to Almanzor in the first season sire rankings by average. Satono Aladdin will stand at $12,500 +GST for the 2021 breeding season.
