New Zealand-bred I’m Thunderstruck will be looking to take his revenge on Anamoe when the pair clash once again in the Gr.1 Champions Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on Saturday.
I’m Thunderstruck was runner-up to the Goldolphin star in the Gr.1 Cox Plate (2040m) last month, and trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr are hoping for a reverse result this weekend.
“My true, objective head says probably not, but a lot of funny things happen in horse races,” Price told Racing.com.
“We’ll take him on and do our best.”
I’m Thunderstruck has drawn barrier eight and will be partnered once again by leading hoop Mark Zahra.
“I was hoping to draw a better gate than towards the outside,” Price said.
“I see Anamoe’s going to be one out one back and we’ll be out the back and I’m hoping it doesn’t work out to be too disadvantageous for us, but anyway, he seems very well in himself, he’ll take his place and he’ll run his usual good, bold race.
“I think he likes Flemington, so I’m looking forward to it.”
