Lost And Running (NZ) (Per Incanto) will get a second shot at The Everest (1200m) glory after Racing NSW confirmed the TAB has locked in John O’Shea’s talented sprinter for its slot in this year’s edition of the A$15m race.
Fourth behind Nature Strip in last year’s Everest, the rising six-year-old has since won the A$1m Hunter (1300m) at Newcastle and the Gr.3 Southern Cross Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.
The son of Per Incanto hasn’t been seen since finishing unplaced as the $4.20 favourite in the Gr.1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington.
Lost And Running joins Nature Strip, Eduardo, Mazu and Masked Crusader as the five horses to have already secured slots in the 2022 running of The Everest.
Lost And Running was bred by JML Bloodstock’s Lib Petagna and raised at Blandford Lodge in Matamata.
Petagna retains an interest in the impressive galloper, who races in the colours of Carl Holt, with partners including Frank and Christine Cook and O’Shea’s wife Isabel.
