The New Zealand thoroughbred racing industry has more than 34,000 participants, employs over 9,500 people and contributes around $1.1 billion dollars to the New Zealand economy annually.

It’s an industry that doesn’t stop with the horses requiring constant care, resulting in early mornings, late nights, busy weekends and few holidays for the hard working and passionate people behind the scenes.

Beyond The Winning Post is a magazine docuseries that explores the varied participants within the racing industry and the motivation behind their involvement.

In the eight-part series, host Emily Bosson mucks in with a range of characters as they go about their everyday tasks and learns more about them and why they do what they do.

Beyond The Winning Post is funded by the same stable of sponsors that commissioned the return of Weigh In on Trackside earlier this year – put together by Te Akau Racing’s David Ellis CNZMand it is produced by Picket Fence Marketing and Media’s Tara Hughes.

“We were asked to produce a show that would inspire those currently involved in the racing industry, reward industry participants who have achieved recent success and share with a wider audience why the racing industry is important to so many people,” Hughes said.

Beyond The Winning Post does just that, telling the participants’ stories and exploring the motivation behind their industry involvement.”

Episode One of Beyond The Winning Post airs on Trackside 1 on Sunday December 20 at 9am. Each 30-minute episode includes three stories which will also be released individually online via the Beyond The Winning Post YouTube and social media accounts.

A mainstream broadcast partner is also being sought.

In addition to the eight-episode series the team behind Beyond The Winning Post will also be releasing a 1 hour Karaka 2021 yearling sale preview show on January 17.
