Rubira was the headline act of the Goffs February Online Sale on Wednesday with Alex Elliott going to €100,000 to secure the daughter of Lope De Vega.

A winner of the 2018 Listed Champagne Stakes (1600m) in New Zealand for Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, Rubira was offered in foal to New Bay.

Rubira is from the family of German Listed winner Royal Intrigue and South African Grade One winner Noordhoek Flyer.

Elliott purchased her for a syndicate in Ireland and will look to put her in foal to Camelot this year.

“You’ve got to be a good quality mare to have won a Listed race,” Elliott told the ANZ Bloodstock News.

“She’s in foal to New Bay who made a great start with his two-year-olds and we’ll look to put her back in foal to Camelot this year, which obviously appeals to the Australian market.”
