NZTBA Members Update

As we move towards the end of our third week under Level 4 we are anticipating a decision from Government on Monday announcing when we can expect to move to Level 3. Yesterday the Prime Minister released an updated Alert Level Chart that reflects how we can expect Level 3 to look like. We will be able to resume more routine work but we must still continue to operate using Government and industry recommended hygiene and distancing measures.

We are continuing to engage with MPI who have advised that vets and farriers will be able to resume routine work when we move to Level 3, whilst maintaining hygiene measures to minimise risk of transmission of COVID-19  for more information read here

It is important as an industry that we are compliant and follow Government guidelines to show that we are operating and utilising good management practices. Detailed information on the proposed changes on moving to Alert Level 3 can be found here

NZTR were due to announce their Return to Racing program today but due to RITA postponing their announcement from yesterday until Monday, they also have had to delay.

I want to say thanks to all of you who are abiding by all the rules and regulations as I understand it is at times not easy but as an industry it is making a difference and this will ensure we can continue to operate.

I assure you we are looking ahead to a breeding season and will continue to engage to make sure we can operate under the differing alert levels. Please make sure you continue to check our Covid-19 page for updates and new advice, helpful products (see the face shields below) and guidelines.

I am also excited to announce this week that we have gavelhouse.com on board as a new sponsor for the association. This is a relationship that I hope will evolve and embrace the changes that we as breeders may have to adapt to if we wish to continue as an industry.

Next week we will begin to work on our Stallion Register. I have had overwhelming feedback from members on whether we can produce a printed version and I am giving it my best shot to ensure this happens.

Your NZTBA council are conducting weekly Zoom meetings to address any arising issues and these are proving to be invaluable.

I am looking forward to tomorrow’s racing card in Australia and I have entered Windsor Park’s tipping competition (details below) so will be tuned in to follow the results.

Stay safe and remember we are still on Alert Level 4 – stay home and save lives.
