Three-year-old Belardo filly Bellabel maintained her perfect record since arriving in the United States for trainer Phil D’Amato when winning the Gr.2 San Clemente Stakes (1600m) at Del Mar, heading home a stable trifecta.
Originally prepared in Ireland by Jessica Harrington, Bellabel had previously won the Listed Blue Norther Stakes (1600m) at Santa Anita back in January, having won one race from five starts in Ireland as a juvenile.
Bellabel is one of seven stakes winners for European champion miler Belardo, a son of Lope De Vega who shuttles to Haunui Farm in New Zealand.
Crowned Champion first-season sire in New Zealand in 2020/21, Belardo is currently second on the second season sires’ list behind Vadamos.
The Gr.1 Del Mar Oaks (1800m) on turf on August 20 is the likely next target for Bellabel.
