Matamata trainer Mark Walker unleashed some of the stable’s talent at Taupo on Wednesday when sending out six winners on the nine-race card.

Among them were a pair of Waikato Stud-bred and raced mares who raced up to their illustrious pedigrees with Savabeel mare Savito (NZ), a daughter of multiple Group One winner Suavito (NZ) (Thorn Park), breaking through for a deserved success off the back of three minor placings, while stakes placed Outfit (NZ) (Tivaci) opened her preparation in style.

Outfit began her quest for further stakes honours in commanding fashion with an effortless first-up victory over 1300m, a distance short of her best.

She was quickly into stride to settle within sight of the leaders and finished off generously to set the foundation for a lucrative spring preparation.

“She got back-type as a three-year-old and she will improve over more ground, but we thought she would go pretty well fresh,” Walker said.

A daughter of Tivaci and Group One winner Costume (NZ) (Savabeel), Outfit posted a win and three placings last season, including a runner-up finish in the Listed Oaks Prelude (1800m).

Later on the card Zeitaku (NZ) (Savabeel), Perfect Scenario (NZ) (Iffraaj), Fellini (NZ) (Belardo) and Cognito (So You Think) all recorded victories for the powerhouse Te Akau stable, while Sans Doute (Not A Single Doubt) was good on debut when second behind John Bary’s impressive three-year-old filly Best Seller (NZ) (Wrote).

“We had a sizeable team, but it was still a remarkable to effort to win six races,” Te Akau principal David Ellis said.

“Mark had the team beautifully prepared for their resuming runs and Karyn (Fenton-Ellis) and I couldn’t be more proud of the way everyone is working together.”
